Reading’s Body a Sight to Behold

“You gotta see it to believe it!”  That is a phrase that gets thrown around when attempting to describe something when words don’t do it justice.

It’s probably safe to say that a common phrase like this is not frequently used when referring to a truck body.  A spectacle of nature, an awe-inspiring landmark, one of the seven wonders of the world - yeah, that phrase would definitely be appropriate.  But a truck?  Not usually.  But to quote another cliche, “there’s an exception to every rule.”

The exception, in this case, is the truck that Ernest Burgeson is tooling around in.  It commands your attention, makes you stand up and take notice, and say ’Wow!”  In fact, it is not uncommon for Ernest to spend a half hour in the morning at job sites talking to admirers of his truck.

For Burgeson, owner of Burgeson Logging & Landclearing, the truck in question is a Reading custom panel body mounted on a Peterbilt chassis.  It features a 12-ft. closed-in workshop, complete with a hose shop to make hydraulic hoses on site.  He has a 350-gallon tank that holds 50 gallons of motor oil, 50 gallons of hydraulic oil, and 250 gallons of diesel fuel.  The custom panel body is also equipped with Grip ‘n Glide drawers, illuminated strip lighting in each compartment, and a 6000-lb. Moorelife crane.

According to Ernest, the custom panel body “enables me to have a complete work shop on site by reducing down time.”  He utilizes the compartments to store wrenches, sockets, air tools, chainsaws, welding equipment, a compressor, and cutting torches.

Burgeson, who’s been in business 31 years, chose Reading because of “quality and their willingness to design and build a body to my specifications.  And I was more than pleased with my distributor.”

He purchased the Reading custom panel body through Mona Rock Truck and Trailer Service, an authorized Reading distributor, located in Pawtucket, RI.

Standard features include construction of two-sided A60 galvannealed steel and Lectro-Life® immersion priming for complete rust protection.  Other standard features include automotive-quality rotary locks for secure protection to tools and equipment; stainless steel bolt-on hinges keeping the compartment doors operating smoothly in all weather conditions; and double paneled compartment doors offering greater durability.
